This site is all about bringing you unique, handmade fabric and woollen gifts, home wares and handicraft kits.



I have always been interested in all sorts of crafts and have been making things since I was a little girl. My Mum taught me how to sew and knit so I started off making dolls clothes and simple embroidery. When I went to college, and grant money was in short supply, I began to knit and sew my own clothes. This was made easier by having access to really good bargains from Huddersfield outdoor market. I would now like to share my love of handicrafts with you.

I am always developing new ideas and trying new aspects of crafting in fabric and yarn so hopefully Fat Brown Mouse Designs will keep bringing you fresh ideas.

The name Fat Brown Mouse Designs came about by chance. I had been searching for a name for my business that hadn’t already been used and was finding it difficult to find something original. Then, I found a small brown mouse that was getting fat, eating my dog’s biscuits, so the name Fat Brown Mouse Designs was born. The mouse was caught and now lives in my local park.
